He lived in Geumjeong, a district in north central Busan, South Korea.
He fell in love with dancing when he was in second year of middle school. He went to a dance school after school.
He learned Japanese fencing for 7-8 years after watching the anime “One Piece”.

He entered the Modern Dance Department of the prestigious Busan High School of Arts with top scores. He continued as the top student overall in his department while also leading as the batch president. He mentioned that he did the oath taking in the entrance ceremony which only the school’s top 1 students are allowed to do. He did not graduate as he transferred to Korea Arts High School in Seoul when he passed BigHit’s audition and became a trainee.
