Channel A reports:

For a long time, major music streaming sites dominated the music market.

However, there has been an increase in artists intentionally releasing their music on free foreign sites.

BTS has joined the trend.

Reporter Lee Sang-yeon reports.

BTS Jimin recently released a new song.

Instead of a major domestic music streaming service, he released it through a free music sharing site created in Sweden.

He chose a platform where fans around the world can easily listen to music for free.

The rapper, known for his pink mask, also released his song on YouTube, garnering 33 million views in just three months.

"If you ask me how much revenue I earned from 20 million views, it would be around 17 million won."

The publishing industry is also moving away from mainstream platforms.

Author Kim Na-yeon, who started selling her books at local bookstores, has expanded from her local store to major bookstores after a series of sell-outs, pushing her book to its sixth edition.

"I think it covers aspects that the market previously avoided or hadn't considered."

Last year, an independently published book detailing psychiatric treatment records topped the bestseller lists at two major bookstores.

With the diversification of cultural consumer tastes and the rise of word-of-mouth marketing via social media , more and more creative works are competing on the basis of artistic quality, rather than the platform power of major distributors.

The landscape of content distribution is shifting.
